Why are there actually still elections in Thailand? After all those so very obvious shenanigans of the current (and all the past) government parties, it seems totally unnecessary to me. Thai people do not understand democracy, do not value it and government seems to be just another of the many pyramid schemes going on here...

The Phuket Election Committee has announced that, in accordance with election law, a booze ban will be in effect throughout the province, prohibiting sales and distribution of alcohol, including in bars and clubs, from 6 pm Saturday to midnight Sunday.
Phuket province has 202,056 eligible voters, who will be able to cast their ballots between 8:30 am and 3 pm on Sunday at one of 326 polling stations.
Islanders will be voting for a new OrBorJor president along with 24 OrBorJor council seats for Muang, Thalang and Kathu districts. Votes will be counted immediately after the election has closed, with the unofficial result expected to be released on Monday."
