Phuket Bangwad Lake

Little known even to longtime residents of Phuket is the Bangwad Lake just over the mountain from Patong. The locals use it as a nice picnic spot, and the wall is used by joggers as soon as the sun is hidden by the mountains towards Patong. Quite often one can see groups gathering around a campfire or fishing -- just curiously I have never seen a boat or kayak on this lake once.

Around the lake leads a road, maybe 6 kilometers long. It is absolutely level and all day long in deep shade by the trees overgrowing it, so if you are up for some more serious runs, this is a beautiful place to do it.

Especially in Green Season (the local marketing oxymoron for Rainy Season), the sunsets can become magical and if you found yourself a peaceful spot to sit, you can enjoy it without the hustle and bustle that seems to engulf every other spot on Phuket.
